Chicago Teachers Strike: It’s Over

Just after 5 pm this afternoon, it was announced that the delegates of the CTU had agreed to end the strike with a vote of 98 to 2. The reporters on the scene said they could hear the delegates rejoicing inside. Finally, the children win in this war of adults.

Next, the rank and file will have to vote on the contract, which would be within the next two weeks. Ms. Lewis was optimistic that they’ll vote for the contract and move on.

Mayor Emanuel held his press conference at a near northside high school, to make it look better. He now must realize that there are Chicagoans like himself who won’t back down, regardless of how loud the wolf howls.

I congratulate Ms. Lewis and the delegation for striking a blow for better public schools.
